Newsletter September- November 2018
Since the last newsletter we have had 2 evening meetings, the ever-popular Bingo night and of course, our 10th anniversary Gala Dinner. The dinner was well attended; nearly a hundred and fifty people sat down to an excellent meal. Andrew and Ray ran a very successful auction with some really good items. The raffle was well subscribed and contained some good prizes. Entertainment was provided by Elvis aka Pat Byrne. As usual, he was well received! Altogether, we made a profit of just over £2000 on the night. The Bingo night was a success as usual, thanks to Steve and of course Wendy and Donald for organising the fish and chip supper. Although the numbers were a little down on last year for the Bingo night we still raised an excellent £163.
July: We had a very good presentation from Gaye Illsley from LPA Made Simple on the tricky subject of Lasting Power of Attorney.Tricky, because its something we should do more about, but dont. Gayes talk took a lot of the scary bits out and I very much hope that many more of us will take positive steps to put this important arrangement in place. If any of you missed the talk or want further details, Gaye can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on 020 3633 0110.
September: The meeting was all about food! The new Dietician, Evie Norman came to talk to us. It was helpful to have some reminders about the things we need to avoid and to be aware of the need for a balanced diet. Its very easy to slip back into bad habits, so this was a timely reminder.
