Hearts & Minds 2017 Project
Patient Lounge - Chelmer Ward
Chelmer Ward has 32 beds and 16 of these are in side rooms which although they give patient privacy can be isolating. Many patients have expressed a wish for a day room and somewhere they can meet other people going through similar experiences as well as family/friends and have a hot drink. Chelmer Ward has obtained permission to convert an existing unused treatment room into a Patient Lounge. Sister Liz Shaughnessy approached the committee for funds to help furnish the facility. We are delighted to be able to help with this excellent initiative and have agreed to provide up to £2,400 to assist with the purchase of appropriate furniture, drink making facilities and a television. The facility will be named after Hearts & Minds and is expected to in use sometime in July.
Wear It. Beat It. This year’s British Heart Foundation ‘drive’ is entitled Wear it. Beat it. The CTC, as always will be marking the event. This year it will coincide with the 10th anniversary celebrations for the opening of the CTC on 8th June. Hearts and Minds will be providing support for two information desks throughout the day as in previous years and we need volunteers! If you could help at one of the desks for a couple of hours during the day, please get in touch with any on the committee members.
